Do I need experience to apply?
No experience is required to apply for caregiver positions. We provide paid training and ongoing support to help you feel confident and prepared. If you have prior caregiving experience, it may qualify you for higher starting pay, depending on your experience and qualifications.
Can I choose my schedule?
We do our best to build schedules that work for both our caregivers and our clients. Our schedulers work closely with you to match your availability, preferred hours, and location whenever possible. Flexibility is important to us, and we create schedules that work well for everyone involved.
Do I have to work weekends?
Not necessarily. Some of our clients do need weekend care, but not all caregivers are required to work weekends. We are flexible while ensuring our clients receive the care they need.
What areas do you serve?
AmanaCare serves clients across the entire state of Nebraska, including many rural communities. We do our best to match caregivers with clients near their location.
Is this a W2 or an independent contractor?
All AmanaCare caregivers and staff are W2 employees, not independent contractors. This means:
Taxes are handled through payroll.
You receive consistent weekly paychecks.
You may qualify for benefits.
You have support and protection as an employee.
You are part of a team, not working independently.
When do I get paid?
We pay every Friday via direct deposit, so you receive a paycheck every week.
How quickly can I start?
The hiring timeline depends on background checks and onboarding paperwork. Background checks can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, which is outside of our control.
If you are applying to care for a family member, we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible so we can begin the onboarding process right away.
Do you offer benefits?
Benefits eligibility may depend on hours worked and position. Benefits may include:
Health insurance for eligible employees
401(k) options
Paid training
Flexible scheduling
Opportunities for advancement
Can I work part-time or full-time?
Yes. We offer both part-time and full-time opportunities, depending on your availability and client needs. Many caregivers start part-time and increase hours over time if they choose.
Will I have the same client every week?
We do our best to provide continuity of care, which means we try to match caregivers with the same client or a small group of clients on a consistent basis. This helps caregivers and clients build trust, routines, and strong relationships, which we believe leads to better care and a better experience for everyone.
Occasionally, caregivers may be asked to pick up additional shifts or help cover a schedule when someone is sick or on vacation, sometimes with an incentive. However, most clients prefer consistency, and we work hard to avoid a revolving door of caregivers.
We also understand that sometimes personalities or schedules don’t line up perfectly. If a caregiver feels a different client would be a better fit, we will do our best to find a better match.
What kind of care will I provide?
Caregivers help clients remain safe and independent in their homes. The type of care depends on the client, but may include:
Companionship and conversation
Meal preparation
Light housekeeping
Transportation to appointments or errands
Medication reminders
Bathing, dressing, and personal care
Mobility assistance and transfers
Dementia and memory care support
Some clients need just a few hours of companionship each week, while others need more hands-on personal care. We try to match caregivers with clients whose care needs they are comfortable providing.
Will I have support if I have a problem with a shift?
Yes. You are never alone at AmanaCare. During office hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM), our schedulers and care coordinators are available to help with any questions, concerns, or schedule changes.
After hours, we have a compliance/on-call team available for urgent situations, so there is always someone you can contact if something comes up during a shift. We believe caregivers should always feel supported, and there is always someone available to help problem-solve if needed.
